Electrical Engineering: LKB has over 10 years of experience in
designing electrical power distribution systems for industrial, transit,
commercial, educational, medical and recreational facilities. These
included airports, tunnels, bridges, hospitals, parks, etc. LKB has been
providing these engineering services to private
clients, state, municipal, and public authorities, and the Electric
Utility Industry. LKB supports its work with documentation customized to
each client's individual requirements. We prepare drawings,
specifications and construction cost estimates for bids and for
construction. LKB's clients include Consolidated Edison Company of New
York, Public Service Electric and Gas Company, The Port Authority of New
York and New Jersey; NY State Department of Parks, Recreation and
Historic Preservation; New York State Bridge Authority; Counties of
Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester; Towns of Oyster Bay, Hempstead and
North Hempstead, and more. Our engineering services are supported by a
database network and by our in-house CADD facilities operating AutoCAD
and INTEGRAPH software. LKB is committed to supporting its customers
during all phases of construction from bid review to commissioning.
Mechanical Engineering:
Designing safe, clean and comfortable yet cost-effective building
environments is a critical part of every successful facility engineering
program. Safety, energy-efficiency and cost-effectiveness are only a few
of the conflicting requirements that must be balanced, while working
within a strict and often complex regulatory framework. LKB designs heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing,
and fire protection systems for commercial, public, industrial and
institutional facilities. We provide mechanical engineering for
high-and-low-rise office buildings, computer centers, training
facilities, laboratories, industrial facilities, garages and rail/bus
mass transportation faculties. In keeping with today's stringent regulatory
environment, LKB's staff is thoroughly acquainted with the complexities of
designing and selecting state-of-the-art systems within the constraints
of building codes, fire codes, hazardous materials regulations and a
variety of other restrictions. Considering life safety as an integral
part of facility design programs, LKB's engineers select and specify
state-of-the-art fire detection/alarm and protection systems consistent
with applicable codes. Viewing every building project as unique, LKB
selects the environmental,
HVAC systems and ancillary equipment most appropriate to the customer's
needs. As an integral part of this design effort, LKB engineers analyze
a variety of relevant design parameters, including:
- applicable codes and standards;
- system costs, including installation costs, operating costs and
investment return;
- building location, construction, configuration, orientation;
- building usage, including occupancy, operation and equipment; and
- type and cost of available energy. All these factors are considered in
creating a safe and efficient interior environment with temperature,
humidity, air cleanliness and air movement elements necessary for
comfort and well-being.
