For decades, LKB has played a significant role in
and developing area-wide and local transportation facilities, through
planning and feasibility studies, facility design, and construction
administration.
LKB's projects have spanned
the range from local roads and streets to expressways, parkways, and
arterial highways involving multiple-span and multi-level structures. In
recognition of increased highway congestion, and the resultant safety,
operational, and air quality problems, LKB is also focused on improving
mobility through improved traffic flow and management on existing
thoroughfares.
LKB has also provided design and mapping services for commuter railway
transportation systems, including electrification and upgrade programs,
rehabilitation of grade crossings, and design and construction
management of highway/rail grade separation structures.
In the realm of marine transport, LKB has
provided survey, design and construction inspection for boat docking and
launching facilities, seawalls, jetties, piers, and dredging projects.
Communications and power distribution at major airports and marine
ports, and construction inspection of airport improvements are services
also provided by LKB.
While transportation projects
focus on moving people and goods, LKB is also concerned with the
environment and the surrounding communities. Public involvement,
context sensitive solutions and environmental sensitivity are factored
into all of LKB’s transportation work.
